Desktop Printers
Most faculty and staff have a laser printer attached by USB port to their desktop PC. A few have networked printers to address laptop printing needs.
Over the years Sociology has standardized on the use of HP printers. Most desktop printers are LaserJets because black and white printing is the base user need and toner printing is less expensive than inkjet printing.
Trinity College policy prohibits the use departmental computing budget funds to purchase desktop printers for faculty or staff. Only shared network printers may be purchased from these funds. Faculty may use personal research support funds for the purchase of dedicated printers.
Toner cartridges for printer models in use are stocked by the department and available by request from the administrative staff.
